"A remarkable and original production...direct, moving and vibrant"
Wilts & Glos Standard

A musical drama telling the story of tormented genius Ivor Gurney, one of Britain's finest composers and war poets. The story is told in Gurney's own words through his war letters and poems, both spoken an set to music. This project was commissioned for the Ivor Gurney Centenary in Gloucester in 1990, and performed at Worcester Swan Theatre, Cheltenham Everyman, Bristol Old Vic and other leading theatres.

David Goodland is an actor, writer and a regular reader on BBC Radio 4. He also played the part of Gurney in BBC TV programmes and in "Stars in a Dark Night" for Channel 4. Also featured are actor John Boswall and musician Paul Burgess.

The cassette runs for 90 minutes and is identical to the stage production.
